Take a boat through Rio Lagartos
The published excursion includes a two-hour boat trip through the wetlands. Look for birds and other wildlife from the boat while following your guide’s instructions. Wildlife sightings and a particular route cannot be guaranteed.
See the Las Coloradas salt ponds
The salt-lake landscape is a sightseeing stop. Its color varies with light, weather and salt-production conditions. Swimming in the salt ponds is not part of the visit.

What makes this route different from Chichen Itza?
This day combines Ek Balam’s archaeological site with northern Yucatan wetlands and the Las Coloradas salt-lake area. Choose it for that combination of history and nature.
Are flamingo sightings guaranteed?
No. Wildlife lives freely in the reserve and sightings depend on the animals and local conditions.
Will the salt ponds look bright pink?
Their appearance changes with light, weather and production conditions. A particular shade or intensity is not guaranteed.
Can we swim in Las Coloradas?
No swimming in the salt ponds is included. Follow the site’s access rules and the guide’s directions.
Can children join the excursion?
Share their ages and any mobility concerns before booking. Consider the drive, walking at the archaeological site and boat boarding when choosing the day.
